I feel like we should have a teaching moment, so here’s a quick tip on selecting the Best Louisville Newborn Photographer. It breaks my heart when people book a non-newborn photographer, or someone new to the industry that gives them a “good deal” for their newborn session, because they’re just not educated enough on how to select their professional photographers. I get calls all the time asking if I can fit someone in last minute because they weren’t happy with their images from another photographer, and most often than not, it’s because of posing, styling or lack of know-how.

One of the trickiest things a newborn photographer has to tackle, outside of posing, is the editing. Take this image for example: the SOOC (straight out of camera) image at the top shows a drastic difference when compared to the final edited image at the bottom. Newborn skin can be a nightmare 🤦🏻‍♀️ Redness, purpleness, flakes, eye boogers, scratches, jaundice (yellow toned skin), orange toned skin or even baby acne. This before and after shows just how different daddy’s skin is from baby’s skin and how natural she looks once she has been edited. A lot of time goes into editing every single image by hand. Please make sure whom ever you are booking to capture such an important milestone in your life has the ability to deliver images you’ll be ecstatic to receive.

Also, please do not take this post as a slight against newbie photographers – we all start somewhere and I was once in that boat as well needing to shoot models to learn. My post is about clients that seek out professional results without booking a newborn professional and being disappointed with their results. Newborn photography is an investment and the decision process for selecting your photographer should go further than just who you can find to give you the best deal.
