I feel like it is such an indescribable honor when I am chosen as a Prospect KY Maternity Photographer, especially when mommies are expecting their Rainbow Baby. When Ashley contacted me about photographing her baby bump, she said she really wanted something special and out of the typical norm for her maternity images. She was expecting a Rainbow Baby and wanted to commemorate that as well.
We custom designed her entire session together and settled on a very unique and breathtaking “Winter Maternity Goddess” theme for one of her setups, along with some artful nudes and a special Rainbow setup. Below are the images that we created together and love how each setup, no matter how elaborate or simple, kept the focus on mom and her beautiful bump. Celebrating your pregnancy and motherhood is such an important part of your baby’s life and believe that all mothers should have the opportunity to be photographed in such a way that highlights that.
When booking a maternity session with my studio, you have access to an extensive line of figure flattering and luxurious maternity dresses from my Client Closet. I keep a wide range of sizes and styles in stock, but the most popular ones tend to be the lacy and frilly ones. I don’t mind that at all since my specialty is light and airy with a touch of vintage romance.
For our first setup I laid out an elaborate display of neutral toned “glamour” type flowers to play into the “Winter Maternity Goddess” theme. As you can see from the images below, these bronze, taupe and gold tones played against Ashley’s slightly olive skin very beautifully.

Keeping in the white lingerie, we added a gorgeous beaded lace gown from TAOPAN and love how much variety we were able to get out of it for Ashley’s gallery. I get such gorgeous afternoon sunlight at the front part of my studio and adore how that sunny glow adds the perfect touch to my images.
Then we moved over to do some high key lingerie photos while she was still in her lacy undergarments. These are just so timeless.
Nude Maternity images can be very classy and tasteful if done correctly. The key is proper lighting and posing. It’s fun to throw in a piece of chiffon fabric to jazz up the pose a bit and to add a little variety into the gallery, too. You can also use tulle for this effect.
We went back to the bed for some more contemporary clothed images. I keep a full wardrobe of beautiful neutral and blush toned dresses in my Client Closet and is available to all of my mommies-to-be when booking a session with my studio. This mauve dress was perfection against Ashley’s creamy skin.
To finish our session, we changed into this beautiful Rainbow dress.

I extensively hand edit every maternity session for flawless skin; I remove stretch marks, acne, scars and any other unsightly mark on the body that momma may be self-conscious of. Your comment has inspired me to do a post on how much editing goes into a session and show some side by sides of what the subject looks like Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC) and then the final edit.
