Mount Washington KY Maternity Photographer | Vu Family Maternity Session | www.jlritt.com

I had the pleasure of photographing the Vu family last year for their son’s first birthday. Imagine my surprise when Mrs. Vu contacted me earlier this Summer to tell me she was pregnant and wanted to book me as their Mount Washington KY Maternity Photographer! I’ll also be photographing their baby girl when she arrives early January 2019.

Thao came to me with some very specific ideas for her maternity session and I was excited to oblige. I even hand painted this canvas backdrop that we used for most of her session to give her the exact look that she had envisioned. We incorporated some different styles into this session ranging from classic, boudoir and family to make sure that we included all of the genres of maternity photography that she was looking for. I encourage all of my clients to think about doing more than just one style of photography into their maternity session so it allows them extra variety in their gallery.

Styling
We have a studio stocked full of maternity dresses for all of our mommas-to-be to use during their session and range in sizes from S to XXL. You can choose from light creams and ivories in our boho lace and romantic section or choose to go with something more bold in our new dress line that we brought in this year for outdoor sessions! We also have an exquisite selection of newborn props ranging from rompers, dresses, headbands, bonnets, buckets, beds, bowls, wraps, blankets and layers. You don’t need to bring a thing with you to the session! Typical newborn styling can be described as light and airy with a touch of frill and lace for the girls, and for the boys I lean toward simple and earthy with a touch of vintage. Each session is uniquely styled to your family’s desires. Typical maternity styling is also considered romantic and airy, but when we take it outdoors I really love a great sunset in a bold colored dress to play off the beautiful tones in the sky or golden haze dancing off your hair. You can also choose to keep your outdoor session in my classic bohemian style with vintage flare and lace.

Prospect KY Maternity Photographer | Ashley Speed | www.jlritt.com

I feel like it is such an indescribable honor when I am chosen as a Prospect KY Maternity Photographer, especially when mommies are expecting their Rainbow Baby. When Ashley contacted me about photographing her baby bump, she said she really wanted something special and out of the typical norm for her maternity images. She was expecting a Rainbow Baby and wanted to commemorate that as well.

We custom designed her entire session together and settled on a very unique and breathtaking “Winter Maternity Goddess” theme for one of her setups, along with some artful nudes and a special Rainbow setup. Below are the images that we created together and love how each setup, no matter how elaborate or simple, kept the focus on mom and her beautiful bump. Celebrating your pregnancy and motherhood is such an important part of your baby’s life and believe that all mothers should have the opportunity to be photographed in such a way that highlights that.

When booking a maternity session with my studio, you have access to an extensive line of figure flattering and luxurious maternity dresses from my Client Closet. I keep a wide range of sizes and styles in stock, but the most popular ones tend to be the lacy and frilly ones. I don’t mind that at all since my specialty is light and airy with a touch of vintage romance.

For our first setup I laid out an elaborate display of neutral toned “glamour” type flowers to play into the “Winter Maternity Goddess” theme. As you can see from the images below, these bronze, taupe and gold tones played against Ashley’s slightly olive skin very beautifully.

Keeping in the white lingerie, we added a gorgeous beaded lace gown from TAOPAN and love how much variety we were able to get out of it for Ashley’s gallery. I get such gorgeous afternoon sunlight at the front part of my studio and adore how that sunny glow adds the perfect touch to my images.

Then we moved over to do some high key lingerie photos while she was still in her lacy undergarments. These are just so timeless.

Nude Maternity images can be very classy and tasteful if done correctly. The key is proper lighting and posing. It’s fun to throw in a piece of chiffon fabric to jazz up the pose a bit and to add a little variety into the gallery, too. You can also use tulle for this effect.

We went back to the bed for some more contemporary clothed images. I keep a full wardrobe of beautiful neutral and blush toned dresses in my Client Closet and is available to all of my mommies-to-be when booking a session with my studio. This mauve dress was perfection against Ashley’s creamy skin.

To finish our session, we changed into this beautiful Rainbow dress.

As always, it is my pleasure and honor to be a part of this exciting new chapter in a mommy-to-be’s life. It brings me such joy working with these women, making them feel beautiful and confident (even when they feel like self-proclaimed whales).

Mount Washington Outdoor Maternity Photographer | Kusnir Family | www.jlritt.com

Being a Mount Washington Outdoor Maternity Photographer in Kentucky during the end of Summer lends itself to some pretty amazing landscapes and sunsets. I’ve recently been granted access to shoot at private residence that includes a beautiful 100 acre farm packed with a pond, several barns, black wood fences with rollings hills full of horses! I took that opportunity to shoot my first session there with Matt and Lara Kusnir’s maternity session and it yielded results nothing short of breathtaking.

Mount Washington KY Family Maternity Photographer | Page Family | www.jlritt.com

I had the absolute best time being the Mount Washington KY Family Maternity Photographer last week for the Page Family. I have known this family for almost 4 years now and met them while photographing their youngest child, Ayden, during his newborn session. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was still new to the newborn photography game at that point in time and recall being so proud of myself after their session. Looking back, I know there were a lot of things I may have done wrong or am doing a lot better now, but I’m so thankful to have had this family stick with me for so long. They are an absolute joy to work with. Momma Page, Amanda, was also a part of the Rainbow Baby Maternity Event that I hosted earlier this Spring, so the baby she is carrying is a Rainbow Baby. I hope that she carries him to full term and has a safe and healthy delivery, because I cannot wait to get my hands on his sweet little face this October!

There were over 100 images in their gallery to choose from, so it was really difficult for me to narrow it down to pull some favorites for this post. However, I think these just about sum up all of the amazingness that happened that night at Broad Run Park. This park has become quite a popular spot for all of the local photographers, so I have since then found a private 100 acre farm that I have exclusive access to for all of my future clients! If you can’t tell from these images, this family has such an awesome connection with one another and I was in awe with how well these children behaved. It was one of the most relaxed and fun loving sessions that I have ever had the opportunity to photograph.
