I have had the great pleasure in photographing several sets of newborn twins in my career and have been quickly recognized as the “go-to” Twins Newborn Photographer in Kentucky. I am humbled by this recognition, but I couldn’t do it without my wonderful assistant, Natasha Clark Photography. She assists me for all twins newborn sessions to add that extra layer of safety for the babies, reassurance for mommas and overall speed to the session. Newborn Session sitting fees cover the time and talent of the photographer, use of my extensive prop collection, styling consultation and gallery review / ordering appointment. This fee is universal across the board whether or not I am photographing one baby or five! The additional costs that I incurr to pay an assistant are never passed onto the family because I believe in keeping the costs as low as possible for the families of multiples. It’s a blessing to their parents to have twins, and in many cases it’s a medical miracle for them to even be conceived, so it’s my belief that their parents shouldn’t be “penalized” with extra session fees.

Twins newborn sessions generally do take a little bit longer and yield less photos than a single baby session just for the fact that you are trying to settle two babies at once instead of one. However, I work with each baby individually as well while the other may be feeding or needing a diaper change. This helps to keep the session progressing and allows for each baby to have their photos taken by themselves, which can make for beautiful wall collages. Below are just a handful of my favorites from their session!

The best part about being a Louisville KY Newborn Photographer is that I’m still close enough for Southern Indiana clients to travel to my studio! And in this particular client’s case, they came to me because of my proficiency level of photographing twins newborn sessions. Twins are certainly double the work, but they are also double the joy for me personally. There is nothing greater than the love between siblings and I get to see the beginnings of a beautiful friendship between these sweet babies from the start. I absolutely LOVE twins and am so happy that I continue to book so many sets; it definitely takes a skilled professional to pull off setups containing two babies. Another bonus of booking a twins session with me is that I charge the same session fee as if it were a single baby. I don’t believe in charging extra for double the baby snuggles!

There were so many favorites that I decided to put them in a short video slideshow for your entertainment. <3

My goal for each session, whether I’ve photographed one set of twins or 100 sets, is to provide a personalized service that is unique to your family. Although I style each session with a similar taste that is true to my brand, I also have creative leeway to tweak the styling to be more rustic / vintage or to be more on the feminine side. The same goes for colors; I style sessions anywhere from soft neutrals to light pastels. The overall product is a gallery full of timeless and classic images that will never go out of style.

If you’d like more information about booking a session, please message me at hello@jlritt.com to set up your free no-obligation consultation at my home studio.

When you are a Louisville KY Twins Newborn Photographer, you get to photograph families from all over the metro area.  It seems like I get more and more clients traveling to come for their newborn sessions.  Recently I had the pleasure of working with these adorable twin girls, Lizzy and Evie.  Lizzy was an entire pound heavier than Evie and boy does it show when they are side by side.  I couldn’t get over how much one little pound made that much of a difference in size!  Check them out side by side.

I was really excited for this session.  Not only because I had just gotten back from the mentoring session at Dewdrops Photography, but because I had set up a new shoot space for newborns aside from my regular studio.  It was equipped with a new floor drop as well!  I really love how it turned out!

I think you can really see the difference in how much bigger Lizzy was in this shot!  Look how sweet her little smile is!! I know these two are going to grow up to be the best of friends.  See how big sis is already protective of little Evie? 🙂

Not only did I add a new floor, but I also threw on a new color for the walls and quite liked how the parent shots turned out against this color.  Creamy and dreamy!

These sweet babies are safe in daddy’s hands.  It’s hard to pick a favorite from this session, but I think this one might be it for me.  I am in love with the moodiness and simplicity of it this photo.  What’s your take on it?

Just a little reminder that it is imperative to book your newborn session while you’re still pregnant to ensure your spot on the schedule.  Newborn sessions are done in the first 2 weeks of life and if you wait until the baby is born to contact me about booking, then I may not have the ability to fit you in.  We all know that having a baby (or two) is a life changing event and is one of the most happiest times in your life.  I am honored to be a part of each and every one of them and would love to be a part of yours too!  Newborns are my passion!

Brenden - What a darling twin newborn session. I think its so amazing when one twin is bigger than the other like Lizzy was. tccba - This is a gorgeous twin newborn session! I can see why KY families travel to you! Blustery cold wintery days like today have me thinking back on how much fun Summer is and all the fun things that are to come in the months ahead.  Strolling down memory lane today has me reminiscing on how much I love being a Louisville KY Newborn Photographer and the twins outdoor newborn session that I shot several months ago of the adorable boy / girl twins, Ari and Olivia.  I love outdoor newborn sessions for a couple of reasons.  First, you don’t have to constantly worry if the baby is warm enough; I only shoot these sessions when it’s 82° and warmer.  Second, I have several different vignettes to stage my shots with at gorgeous locations around town that I have previously scouted out.  Last, but certainly not least, if you shoot late enough in the day then you’re sure to catch some gorgeous sunsets!  Here a just a handful of my favorites when scrolling back through their session this afternoon.  At the bottom of the post, be sure to read up on some helpful tips for shooting outdoors!

Meet Ari, I just adore how peaceful this little prince is here in this field!

This organic wool mini blanket from Mama Knits is a staple in my outdoor sessions.  I love all the beautiful tones in it that pull from nature.

His sister, Olivia, was just as peacefully asleep as he was and enjoying a light summer breeze during her setup.

Dreamy golden mini blanket from Tanya’s Tangles matched perfectly to the sunflower tieback that I found at Sixpence & Sage.  Both, paired with the surroundings and the olive toned bucket, made for a beautiful setup.

A good thing about working with twins is, you can always work whichever one is done eating first or is settled the most.  Olivia was in a good deep sleep by this time and slept like an angel for me while her bubby was grabbing a snack!  As you can see below, I love organic, natural, wispy looking setups when outdoors.

I saved my favorite for last.  Brother and Sister all snuggled up together.  They slept so well and soothed each other when they were side by side. <3  Tieback is from the 3pc set I got from Snippets, wraps are from Stitches by Sarah  & mini blanket is from Mama Knits.

A few tips for shooting outdoors:

1) Bring  bug spray, generally an OFF Clip-On works well and it won’t rub off on baby.

2) Don’t forget to take all of your makeup off before the session! It melts in humid temps and *really* stings when it gets into your eyes.

3) I like shooting in open shade, but if you can’t find shade, bring something to make your own!

4) If it’s TOO HOT for YOU, then it’s definitely TOO HOT for BABY!  Keep in mind that temp needs to be *at least* 82°F in order to have a successful outdoor session (unless you plan to tote a heater around the whole time on top of the mountain of props you brought with you).

5) If you take one piece of advise from me today, do yourself a favor and buy a collapsible wagon to drag all of your props around!  I learned this one the hard way!

6) If you struggle with angles, how to pose baby safely or working with newborns in general, please check out my fabulous mentor, Rachel Vanoven.  She offers wonderful teaching / guidance.  I highly recommend both of her In-Person and Online workshops!
