Bardstown KY Photographer | Maternity Session at Bernheim Forest and Arboretum

We shot this gorgeous outdoor maternity session in early Spring (March 29, 2021) at the Bernheim Forest front entrance white all of the trees were in full bloom. We were so lucky to have shot this on that day since there was a frost that lasted 2 nights a few days later and caused most of the blooms to die.  I absolutely adore this family and am so happy that we were able to preserve such a wonderful night through my lens.  Brianna was 32 weeks when we shot this session!

 

Brianna shared some of her thoughts about her experience and would love to share them with you.  I love seeing a session experience through a client’s eyes!

 

“I chose to work with Jennifer as our photographer, because she makes me feel like a whole session was about me. Being pregnant is a special memorable thing. Even maternity photos. Jennifer is kind, patient, and a Master at what she does.

My experience during the session was so amazing. She took her time with me and made sure I was comfortable. I didn’t feel rushed at all.
These images were so special to me because this is going to be my last baby, my last pregnancy. Also it’s my first girl. I had a certain vision in mind and Jennifer brought that to life more than I could’ve imagined. She took my vision and ran with it and was so creative.
The first time I seen these photos I literally teared up. I had people from other states on my Facebook asking me where in the world I got these pictures done. I am so thankful to have booked with Jennifer and to know her as a person. She is so much more than a business. She has a passion for people and their families. I will hold onto these photos for the rest of my life. It was so hard to pick which photos I love the most. And it will be even harder to pick which ones to blow up on a big canvas.”

 

I literally teared up reading her review.  Knowing that I can make clients feel this special is what motivates me to keep providing such a unique service and limiting the amount of clients I take per month.  This tells me I am doing what I am supposed to be doing and not worry about taking in the masses.

 

 

Below are a few images that we shot of Brianna while at the studio right before her outdoor portion that evening.  I had just got these 2 dresses in and was dying to see how they’d look on a pregnant belly and threw this segment as a complimentary bonus.  She certainly didn’t disappoint!  Her bump is the perfect size, too!  I love how timeless these images are and cannot wait to see them on her walls in the nursery!  She looks like an absolute pregnant princess in these photos.

 

 

Below are a few other images we created together on another occasion when she was 28 weeks.  She had split her session into a 30 minute indoor and 30 minute outdoor session as a perk for booking both her maternity and newborn sessions with my studio.   We waited an additional few weeks for the weather to be perfect and trees in bloom, so that is why there is a gap in her sessions.  Normally we would shoot them all the same evening.

 

It’s hard to believe, but that gold dress is actually just a piece of silk that I fashioned to make the dress on site just for these few images.  Oddly enough, Brianna had women messaging her asking if they could buy her “dress” when she was done with it and that they had been looking everywhere for one just like it.  We both got a giggle out of that!  It just goes to show that you can create beautiful fine art maternity images with some simple fabric or with a couture dress.  It’s all about the artist’s vision, talent and experience. Posing, lighting, editing and evoking emotions are all part of what create your final images.   You truly do get what you pay for. You’re not just paying someone for an hour of their time while in the studio.  It’s everything else that they offer within that session experience from start to finish.

When Sarah was on her hunt for a Louisville KY Studio Maternity Photographer, she had a specific vision in mind for her session.  She wanted ethereal and classic.  I think we delivered the perfect gallery for her custom tailored maternity session!  She also booked her newborn session and took advantage of the current promotion I had running that included complementary professional hair and makeup for her maternity session!

 

I typically like to shoot the ivory bed setup in natural lighting, but the day of her session it was very dreary outside so we had to run with strobe lighting.  I’m not mad about how her images turned out at all! I think she rocked every single setup and am in love with all of her gorgeous tattoos.  I think they make her boudoir images sing!  Below are the images from her session from start to finish; every session is custom tailored to my client’s individual wishes so you’ll never see the same images repeated time after time in multiple sessions.

 

 

 

 

The lace beaded robe and maternity dresses that she is wearing in the images below are from my client closet.  All clients are encouraged to use the maternity robes and gowns that I have on hand to style their sessions.  It saves them a lot of money and hassle of finding a wardrobe to wear for just an hour!

Shepherdsville KY Maternity and Newborn Photographer shares a special session that started out with an innocent model call that turned into an amazing story of triumph.

Every photographer goes through a period of where they need a creative outlet that is outside of their normal routine.  For me, that time came earlier this season and put out a model call for a very specific image I wanted to create.  Sarah Downs answered that call to action, and I’m so glad that she did.  My idea had a general underlying meaning to it about new growth and rebirth.  Little did I know that this theme would ring so loudly to this very special lady I was about to meet.

 

Sarah recounts her experiences below:

“Everyone has their own opinions of pregnancy. Some love it, some hate it, some even never want it; it’s all in who you talk to. My lifelong dream has always been to have a family & to be a Momma.
In May of 2018 I lost not only myself, but a 5 week old baby. No particular reason why, but I truly believe God has a reason for everything. At that point in my life I wasn’t in a situation that was healthy or happy for myself or a child. My heart was shattered & it took me a long time to get myself back to somewhat mentally stable again.
Fast forward, I meet the ONE. The LOVE OF MY LIFE. My now husband, Alex. I tell him all the time how he saved me & he doesn’t even realize. We got married back in June of 2020 & a month later we found out we’d be bringing in a sweet baby into the world come March 2021. As terrified as I was, the happiness was so overwhelming. A baby, my rainbow baby, with the love of my life. So basically my pregnancy was so special for a few different reasons.
I met Jennifer by chance. I was tagged in a post about her looking for someone for her to work with on a maternity shoot. We spoke over Facebook & she agreed I’d be a good fit & now here we are.
Jennifer made me feel even more beautiful than I already felt pregnant. I have a whole new appreciation for a woman’s body, what we can do is amazing, there’s almost no words. The shoot reflected on rebirth & a new life, growth, which is exactly what was happening, how perfect, right?
Now not only did she capture that story for me, she’s going to capture that new life, and  I couldn’t be more thankful.
Jennifer is an amazing photographer, but she also becomes a friend & she roots for you, hypes you up & makes you feel amazing. I am so so happy we crossed paths. She will forever be highly recommended in my book!”

Sarah went on to say, “After my first session with Jennifer and discussing how the newborn session worked, it didn’t take much convincing.  I wanted a special session for Harlow, and that’s exactly what she gave me.  The pictures are nothing short of amazing.  The detail of the pictures she provides mean so much to me.  This session was even more special with her being my rainbow baby; I’ll forever have these pictures to love and cherish.”

 

As you’ll see in the images below, we incorporated a lot of purples into Harlow’s session!  Purple is Sarah’s favorite color and the nursery is also covered in shades of purples and pinks.  We also did a few images in creams to compliment the parent shots we photographed on the bed setup.  I love for clients to have images that they can pair together from different parts of the session to tell their story.

When booking a maternity session with Louisville KY Maternity Photographer, Jennifer Rittenberry Photography, your session fees covers your time with me in the studio and use of any of the maternity dresses in my collection.  I provide everything to style your session, unless you’d like to bring something in of your own.  This service can be invaluable when using 2-3 dress changes of couture gowns that run upwards of $500+ per dress. My studio has several small vignettes set up for you to choose from as well.  My style can be described as light an airy, even when shooting between the different styled setups (boho, romantic and glam).

 

Kristyn and I worked on a styled fine art setup for her first setup of the day.  I had a clear vision of what I wanted to create and she did a phenomenal job of bringing that to fruition.  This look was created with some simple tulle over a canvas backdrop that I had laid out on the ground for her to pose on top of.  I used a one light strobe setup with a 60″ rectangle softbox.

 

For the rest of our setups, we moved over to the boho corner of my studio and I switched over to natural light for the duration of her session.  I really love how natural light looks for this corner of my studio and prefer it over strobe if I  have enough daylight to work with!  Kristyn chose a simple white lace open belly maternity dress from my client closet and it worked perfectly with her baby bump and this beautiful setup.

 

 

Her third and final clothing change was into this amazing chiffon tulle robe with bodysuit.  I love the way this robe works well with the boho styling, but still gives it that touch of glam!  This couture robe came from one of my very favorite dress makers and it was flown in all the way from Germany!
