It’s not everyday that you get asked to photograph a birth.  It’s not everyday that one of your family members is pregnant and about to have their baby.  It may not be everyday, but September 30, 2015,  that day came for me.  My cousin was having a scheduled induction and asked if I could be there to capture her birth since I was going to be doing their Fresh 48 and Newborn sessions as well.  I figured what the heck, I’ve got PTO time and vacation time left this year, so why not? I got my work done at the office and ran over to the hospital.

Brittany was in so much pain even after getting her epidural.  They ended up giving her a second one and still was in a lot of pain.  You could see how bad she felt as it was written all over her face and hearing it in her moans of excruciating pain through the contractions.  Once the labor progressed enough for her to start pushing, I bet she pushed all of 20 minutes, maybe 30 tops, and Breckyn was born!

She came bouncing into the world at a whopping 8 pounds and 2 ounces.  She’s the largest baby of 3 oolder siblings, which is ironic because she was also born on her exact due date.  Being the 4th child usually would lead to an earlier delivery as well.  She must have been nice and cozy in momma’s belly because she was in no hurry to come out!  I made a video to recreate the day for her parents to look back on and would love to share it with you in the link below, along with a few photos from the special day:
